9 Characteristics of a Great Dad

Father holding daughter at beach

Your partner says that he is up to having kids and wants them a lot? You’re lucky, but does he really mean it?

We’ll show you the way to see if he definitely would make a good father:

1. He is caring and attentive
If your man ever gave you loads of attention and love when you undoubtedly needed it, he is the one. Kids crave attention every minute, according to Jane Greer, Ph.D, who wrote What About Me? Stop Selfishness From Ruining Your Relationship. A great parent has to be aware of children’s needs and moods here and there, even if they don’t totally get into your schedule. That’s wonderful if he has the feeling.

2. Emotions don’t scare him
Expressing emotions, especially love and affection, freely is a rarity among males. He isn’t afraid of holding your hand of soft kissing in public? Shows love to his doggy or kitty? Rare and golden ability for future father – he will be able to build strong emotional connection with the kid.

3. Stress? We’ll take it over!
Something wicked this way comes… but your man can easily deal with it! That’s a great sign for parenting, if he is still in his senses after all the stress. Kids can be stress to the backbone, and this pressure has to be managed somehow.

4. He can share a delicious meal
This little test shows if he is generous enough to handle child’s multiple wants. A person who is so egoistic that can’t give you a taste of his dinner has no strength to become a father. Greer says that sharing his plate shows that he is not stingy and he thinks of others first, then of himself.

5. He is emotionally open
He can easily express his senses to you and loves discussing future plans? Take the man, that’s a great skill for the dad.

6. You both cook and clean the house
If the man shows no interest in house work now, would he be doing it after baby shows up? The answer is no. So choose a true partner who understands what co-working truly is.

7. He is up to some sacrifice
Responsive, caring and flexible guy is able to cancel a beer-and-soccer night to help you in your illness or work overtime in order to make a longer vacation with you. It describes him as an unselfish person, and that’s what your kids’ father has to be.

8. You can rely on him
Monkey say – monkey do! It works on monkeys and it has to work on your partner. If he promised something, he completes it with no reminders and delays. Man who you can’t trust, doesn’t deserve to raise your children.

9. There’s love and affection between you
Respect, passion and great communication reign your relationship? Then it’s ready to grow into a happy family. If you both think about having children and share the same views to parenting… give it a go!
