David de Gea and Eden Hazard fail to make the PFA Team of the Year

Thursday morning saw the unveiling of the player-voted PFA Team of the Year for the 2018/19 Premier League season, and neither David de Gea or Eden Hazardmade the selection.

The voting was done in late-February/early-March and largely features players from title challenging Liverpool and Manchester City.

In actual fact, Paul Pogba is the only player to be included who doesn’t play for either of the two teams who are fighting for the title, and the Frenchman’s inclusion has been heavily scrutinised.

De Gea has slipped from his usual standards, particularly as his contract stalemate with Manchester United has continued, whilst Hazard can feel unfortunate to not make the selection.

An average Chelsea team by their own usual standards has been carried by the Belgian this term, and with Real Madridcircling there is a feeling amongst supporters that we’re witnessing the last days of Hazard in the English top flight.
