The Ogun State Police Command on Tuesday paraded two suspects – a 63-year-old man, Korede Odubela and his accomplice, Lekan Lawal – for allegedly strangling his (Odubela) stepdaughter, Amudat Oshimodi, 16 to death.

Odubela was also reported to have received N3,000 from his son, Seun, who is a herbalist, as part payment for the deceased’s head.

According to PUNCH, the crime was committed at Imosan village, in the Odogbolu Local Government Area of the state.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Ahmed Iliyasu, who paraded the suspects alongside 10 others, said Odubela and Lawal were arrested by officers of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad on Monday, November 7, following a tip off on their activities.

He also said they sold the deceased’s hands to ritual killers.

Odubela said he connived with Lawal to kill his stepdaughter because the 16-year-old girl was always stealing her mother’s money.

“(Oshimodi’s) mother said we should kill her as a sacrifice for other children she had. She (Oshimodi) normally slept by the outside door. On that day, around 12 midnight, I invited Lekan Lawal, and he held the girl by the neck and strangled her while I held her legs,” Odubela said.

The deceased’s mother, Fausat, denied the allegation that she had asked her husband to kill her daughter.

Iliyasu said the case is still under investigation.
