Manchester United are ready to announce the departure of club legend Ryan Giggs. Sportsmail revealed on Wednesday that the Welshman had decided to end his 29-year association with United after rejecting a significantly reduced coaching role under new manager Jose Mourinho.
United had initially been moved to confirm Giggs is leaving Old Trafford on Thursday after agreeing his severance package. The official statement will come sooner rather than later.
It is understood the decision of when to release the news was discussed with Giggs and his representatives, with the 42-year-old now keen to move into club management.
Giggs has become disillusioned with how United have been run since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement three years ago and wants to go it alone as a No 1.
