Veteran Nollywood actress, Patience Ozokwor, has reacted to allegations that she forcefully took over a piece of land belonging to a widow and her daughter.
The widow, in a viral video, claimed that the actress grabbed a property left behind by her late husband without seeking their consent.
The emotional plea sparked outrage online, with netizens calling out the screen icon.
However, Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama G, has strongly denied the claims. In a statement shared on social media, she revealed that she legally purchased the land 15 years ago in 2010, and that the previous owner — the widow — was the one who approached her agent to facilitate the sale.
Fast forward to last year, 14 years later, the previous owner decided it was a great idea to sell a plot out of my land without my knowledge, she wrote.
According to her, after hearing of the attempted resale, she fenced off her property, only to be met with a public smear campaign by the widow and her daughter.
This is blackmail, fraud and malicious intent, she said, adding that the allegations have led to defamation and financial support for the accusers through public sympathy.
Ozokwor disclosed that she has opted for legal action rather than public drama. As social media is not a court, I am pursuing legal means to vindicate my name because it took years to build, she concluded.
The actress also cautioned bloggers who amplified the claims without verification, warning them to prepare to meet me in court.
