There has been a report of a gas explosion at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, located in Abeokuta, Ogun State. According to sources in the area, 2 persons have been feared dead.
Gidipoint gathered that the explosion occurred on Thursday morning, at about 11am at the Marcque event centre within the Presidential Library.
It was learnt that when some Technicians were trying to fill some Air conditioning units at the Library with gas when the explosion happened.
A worker at the Library confirmed the tragic incident to newsmen.
“2 persons have already been confirmed dead, ” the worker said.
Security guards manning the gate asked some newsmen who were trying to get into the facility to go back. They only allowed the truck of the State Fire Service and some officials into the premises.
Meanwhile, the bodies of those killed in the incident were evacuated by a rescue team that arrived shortly after the incident.
The gas explosion at the Presidential Library comes 2 days after another similar incident was reported at the Conference Hotel, located in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital. According to reports, 4 persons died in the Tuesday’s explosion.
The Hotel sited opposite the Obasanjo Presidential Library, is owned by former Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel.
