UEFA back down and suspend proceedings against Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Juventus

UEFA have officially announced the suspension of the proceedings against the three clubs who have decided against pulling out of the European Super League project.

Barcelona, Juventus and Real Madrid are the three of the 12 founding clubs who have not given up on the idea of creating a new competition by breaking away from UEFA.

“Following the opening of disciplinary proceedings against FC Barcelona, Juventus FC and Real Madrid CF for a potential violation of UEFA’s legal framework in connection with the so-called ‘Super League’ project, the UEFA Appeals Body has decided to stay the proceedings until further notice,” read UEFA’s statement.

Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Inter, AC Milan, and Atletico Madrid were all initially part of the project but decided to withdraw due to pressure from fans, players and coaches.

The Swiss Ministry of Justice had previously indicated that neither UEFA nor FIFA can take any retaliatory action against the aforementioned three European football powerhouses.
