A tricycle operator and a pedestrian have died as a result of separate road accidents in Gwarinpa, Abuja.
Sources said the tricycle operator, popularly called Keke NAPEP, was hit a Peugeot 406 car, after making a sudden u-turn in an attempt to pick passengers at 1st Avenue, Gwarinpa.City News learnt the oncoming vehicle collided with the tricycle leaving the operator severely injured before he was taken to Kubwa General Hospital.
In another incident, a pedestrian identified as Silas Michael was knocked down by a Nissan Sunny vehicle while attempting to cross the Kubwa expressway by Gwarinpa.
Sources said the accident happened at about 5p.m. last Thursday.
When contacted, the Gwarinpa Divisional Police Officer, CSP Nurudeen Sabo, said the tricycle operator died on Friday morning while the pedestrian died while receiving treatment on Thursday after they were taken to the Kubwa General Hospital by the police.
“We held the driver and he is in our custody and investigation is on,” he said, regarding the pedestrian that was killed, adding that the other driver who collided with a tricycle operator was also in police custody.
