Jurgen Klopp was left aggrieved after Liverpool fell against Diego Simeone‘s Atletico Madrid at Anfield and were knocked out of the Champions League.
The LaLiga Santander side won both legs – 1-0 and 3-2 – to advance, but Klopp was far from impressed with their approach.
“If I said what I think then I’d sound like the worst loser in the world,” he said when asked about Atleti after the match.
“I don’t understand why they play this type of football with the quality they have.
“Koke, Saul, [Marcos] Llorente!
“They could play proper football.
“They didn’t even have counter attacks in the 90 minutes.”
The German did go on to acknowledge that he wasn’t taking the defeat particularly well and admitted that the Spanish side did execute their plan well.
“I realise I’m a really really bad loser,” he said.
“I don’t feel right tonight, but congratulations to them.
“We have to accept that we conceded three goals, which is really crazy.
“Atletico deserved to win and they were brilliant.”
