Bayern shot themselves in the foot with some defensive howlers, but Julen Lopetegui’s side took full advantage to chalk up a convincing win courtesy of a first-half Ricardo Quaresma brace and Jackson Martínez’s strike midway through the second period.
Thiago Alcántara’s goal to temporarily reduce the arrears was the only saving grace in what was the injury-hit Bavarians’ worst display under Pep Guardiola.
Vastly experienced Champions League trouper Xabi Alonso is the last man you would expect to dawdle on the edge of his box, but that’s what he did in the third minute. Jackson Martínez was rewarded for his harrying by finding himself clean through and was duly felled by Manuel Neuer. Quaresma coolly dispatched the penalty.

Brazilian defender Dante did his best Alonso impression a few minutes later, giving possession away cheaply to Quaresma, who finished past the outstretched Neuer with the same aplomb he had shown from the spot.
Just before the half-hour mark, Thiago looked to have handed his side a lifeline by smartly clipping home at the back post from Jerome Boateng’s cross.
However, with an hour gone, Porto struck for a third time. Brazilian left-back Alex Sandro picked out Martínez’s run with a lofted pass and the Colombian did the rest, an expertly cushioned control allowing him to round Neuer (without being taken out this time) and squeeze the ball into the empty net.
