Honourable Yakubu Dogara has emerged the Speaker of the House of Representatives in the 8th Assembly. Dogara from Bauchi State beat Femi Gbajabiamila, a representative from Surulere 1, Lagos state.
Dogara beat Gbajabiamila by 182 to 174 votes to clinch Speakership position.
Just as it panned out at the Senate President election won by Senator Bukola Saraki, members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) threw their weight behind Dogara ensuring he emerged Speaker.
He has since been sworn in by the Clerk of the National Assembly, Salisu Abubakar Maikasuwa, as Speaker.
