Nigerian superstar Ayra Starr won two awards at the 2025 MOBO Awards, which took place in Newcastle, United Kingdom.
The singer won the prestigious Best International Act, becoming the first African female artist to claim the award. She now joins Wizkid and Burna Boy as the only Nigerian artists to have won this highly coveted British music honor.
Ayra Starr fended off competition from American megastars Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar, both fresh off their wins at the 67th Grammys. Other nominees included Nigerian superstars Asake and Tems.
She also took home Best African Music Act, after beating some of the biggest stars from across the continent, including Tyla, Tems, Shallipopi, OdumoduBlvck, and Rema.
