Corps members nationwide have expressed disappointment over the Federal Government’s delay in implementing the N77,000 allowance promised since July 2024.
Despite an official announcement that payments would commence in February 2025, many corps members confirmed they received only N33,000 for their February stipends.
🔹 Corps members speak out:
- A corps member in Abia State lamented that the N33,000 allowance is insufficient for accommodation, feeding, and transportation.
- Another in Osun State revealed she spends over N70,000 monthly and has had to rely on family for support.
- A Lagos corps member criticized the government for broken promises, questioning how they expect corps members to survive amid economic hardship.
🔹 NYSC’s response:
While the Director of Communication, Carol Embu, remained silent on the issue, a senior NYSC official confirmed that the N77,000 payment has not started.
With rising living costs and no clear explanation from authorities, corps members are demanding urgent action from the Federal Government.
