Following a wave of backlash and criticism, Ijoba Lande released a clarification video on Friday, admitting he was wrong and actually received ₦190,000, not ₦90,000. He blamed the controversy on a poorly edited video, which he claims led to the mix-up.

“I Don’t Want to Go to Jail” — Actor Pleads in Yoruba

Speaking in Yoruba, the actor publicly apologized to Akindele, begging her to forgive him and expressing deep regret over the situation.

“Funke Akindele gave me ₦190,000, not ₦90,000. Please help me beg Aunty Funke. The video was cut and joined, which led to the mistake. People only shared the part where I misspoke and not where I corrected myself. Please, forgive me. I don’t want to go to jail,” he pleaded emotionally.

“God, Don’t Let My Mouth Land Me in Trouble”

In the caption of the video, he further wrote:

“Make God no let my mouth 👄 put me for big trouble oooh. I know mean it this way oooh pls help me beg @funkejenifaakindele pls I’m very sorry mama I didn’t mean it this way pls forgive me mama.”

The saga has sparked fresh conversation online about accountability, clout-chasing, and respect within the entertainment industry. Fans of Funke Akindele have rallied in her defense, with many calling on the actor to be more careful with public statements.
