Doja Cat isn’t here for the fan-made drama. Amid constant comparisons between her and rising alt-rap star Doechii, the Grammy-winning rapper made it crystal clear on Friday (April 4) that there’s nothing but love between them.
“Doechii is MY inspiration. Doechii is here to STAY,” Doja tweeted, silencing the noise from critics trying to pit them against each other.

The two lyrical powerhouses are often placed side-by-side in stan debates, especially given their bold aesthetics and experimental sound. But while social media may feed off rivalry, Doja and Doechii are focused on uplifting each other.
Alt-Rap Sisterhood, Not Competition
Despite alt-rap being a relatively underrepresented lane for women in hip-hop, both Doja and Doechii have carved out space in it unapologetically. Still, backlash persists—like the fan who once accused Doechii of “copying Scarlet,” referencing Doja’s acclaimed 2023 album.
In response to someone questioning how Doechii could be her “inspiration” while allegedly jacking her style, Doja stood firm. The message was clear: authenticity recognizes authenticity.
A Bond That Goes Beyond Music
Their mutual admiration isn’t new. In 2023, Doechii joined Doja Cat on the first leg of The Scarlet Tour, playing 24 cities together. Backstage, Doja gushed over her tourmate:
“I was looking at you and I was like, ‘We need you.’ … You were supposed to happen and I really, really love you.”
From tour moments to fashion run-ins like their reunion at Schiaparelli’s Fall-Winter 2025 show, the connection is real — and fans are still holding out hope for a collab on their upcoming albums.
In a genre that too often sidelines women or fuels fake feuds, Doja and Doechii’s sisterhood is the breath of fresh air hip-hop needs.
