Taye Currency Breaks Down On Stage After Losing ₦10m to CBEX Crypto Ponzi Scheme

Popular Fuji musician, Alhaji Taye Adebisi, widely known as Taye Currency, has opened up about losing ₦10 million to the now-collapsed crypto investment platform, Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX).

In a viral video making the rounds on social media, the Ibadan-based singer emotionally recounted his financial ordeal during a stage performance, revealing how close associates including his brand manager, Sodiq, Lateef, Alaba, Small London, and Brother Muca influenced his decision to invest.

“I invested ₦10m in CBEX on April 1, but everything vanished,” he said, visibly heartbroken.

According to Taye, many of those who encouraged him to join CBEX had either stolen or risked their hard-earned savings to invest. He shared that:

  • Alaba put in ₦1.2m, allegedly stolen from a show
  • Brother Muca invested ₦500k from a performance fee
  • Sodiq saved ₦850k from the band’s earnings
  • Lateef, his brand manager, claimed he turned ₦200k into ₦600k before putting in ₦1.4m

Motivated by their convincing testimonies, the singer took a huge gamble by withdrawing ₦10 million from his insurance savings to join in only to watch it all disappear.

In anger and disappointment, Taye Currency cursed those who misled him:

“All of you who introduced me to CBEX, you won’t succeed in life… If they die well, they won’t rest well, because I was on my own before you took me to CBEX.”

His emotional outburst has added fuel to the nationwide outrage surrounding CBEX, a Ponzi scheme reportedly responsible for defrauding Nigerians of over ₦1.3 trillion.
