All eyes and ears are on Leon Thomas as he gears up to drop the deluxe edition of his acclaimed album MUTT, and the buzz is peaking thanks to a juicy teaser of his new collab with Halle Bailey, titled “Rather Be Alone.”
The 17-second snippet, shared on Wednesday (April 16), was all fans needed to lose their minds. Thomas croons, “I’d rather be alone / Trying to do this for the both of us on my own,” and it’s already being called a future R&B classic.
The hype train kicked off earlier this year when Bailey revealed she “loved the song so much” and teased that she’d been “working hard.” Now, it’s almost here the track officially drops Friday, April 18.
The internet’s already in love:
- “I just know the harmonies are insane,” one fan commented.
- Another added, “No misses in your entire discography. Crazy work.”
- A third fan joked, “I can’t wait to run this clean into the ground.”
MUTT (Deluxe) is shaping up to be a powerhouse. The original already earned a spot on Rap-Up’s Best R&B Albums of 2024, and the Chris Brown remix of the title track climbed to No. 21 on the Billboard Hot 100.
But Thomas is taking things a step further with the deluxe promising more female collabs. Aside from Halle, Kehlani is also confirmed, and Big Sean will represent for the fellas.
“I got some really cool features with old friends that the world loves,” Thomas shared in a BBC Radio 1Xtra interview.
With these kinds of names and this kind of heat, MUTT (Deluxe) might just redefine 2025’s R&B sound.
