Nigerian music superstar Davido has addressed his friendship with convicted fraudster Ramon Olorunwa Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi, acknowledging that they were friends but revealing that he had no idea about Hushpuppi’s criminal activities.
Hushpuppi, a Nigerian socialite, was sentenced to over 11 years in prison for his involvement in an international fraud syndicate. Before his arrest, the two were seen together on multiple occasions, leading to public speculation about their relationship.
During a recent interview, Davido explained that although he was friends with Hushpuppi, he never knew the full extent of what he was involved in. The DMW boss stated that Hushpuppi lived an extravagant life, but he had no knowledge of the fraudulent operations behind it.
“My prayers go out to him, he’s my friend. I just see him around. I never really knew what he was doing. But he lived a good life,” Davido said.

The singer went on to note that some people are willing to enjoy the fruits of their labor, even if it comes with consequences down the line.
The interview sparked mixed reactions online. Many fans voiced their opinions about Davido’s comments. One user, @temitoayoo, wrote: “I don’t like that he openly supports a fraudster. Others pointed out previous interactions between Hushpuppi and Davido, including a 2017 incident where Hushpuppi allegedly threw shade at Davido for spending lavishly at Quilox, challenging him to a big-spender contest.
