Olamide and Wizkid Reunite on ‘Kai’ as Rap Icon Announces 17-Track Album

After weeks of palpable buzz, Nigerian rap titan Olamide has dropped his much-anticipated new single ‘Kai’ and he’s not alone. Teaming up once again with Afrobeats megastar Wizkid, the duo return with a sizzling collaboration that blends nostalgia, wealth, and romance over a hypnotic Konto bounce.

Released on April 29, 2025, ‘Kai’ sees both artists in fine form, serenading a love interest while flaunting the spoils of their success. It’s a smooth, vibrant track that feels at once contemporary and classic just what you’d expect from a pair that helped shape modern Nigerian music.

This latest offering marks a full-circle moment: 14 years after their very first joint hit ‘Omo To Shan’ in 2011, Olamide and Wizkid prove yet again that their chemistry is timeless.

But ‘Kai’ is more than just a single it’s the opening act to something much bigger. The track serves as the lead release from Olamide’s upcoming self-titled 17-track album, set to arrive on June 3, 2025. It’s a surprise move from the Grammy-nominated rapper, who had previously teased a follow-up to his Ikigai EP.

That EP, released in 2024, was warmly received and boasted standout records like ‘Metaverse,’ ‘Habibi,’ and ‘Uptown Disco’ featuring Fireboy and Asake. Yet, Olamide has opted to pivot, perhaps in response to creative instincts or a desire to craft a broader, more definitive statement.

The new album, his 11th solo project, underscores Olamide’s remarkable longevity and uncanny ability to evolve with the times while staying true to the street-bred authenticity that made him a household name.

Beyond his own discography, Olamide’s impact as a label boss cannot be overstated. His YBNL imprint has birthed a generation of stars Lil Kesh, Adekunle Gold, Fireboy, Asake cementing his place not just as an artist, but as a cultural architect.

With ‘Kai’ and a full-length album on the horizon, Olamide is not just revisiting the past he’s rewriting it with every beat. The legacy continues, and as always, the streets are watching.
