BBNaija’s Thelma Lawson: Why I never got along with Isabella

Thelma Lawson, the former BBNaija season 10 housemate, has revealed that a misunderstanding over Kayinkunmi was the reason her anticipated friendship with Isabella never materialised in the house.

Thelma, who was sent packing from the house in a surprise double eviction on Saturday night alongside Bright Morgan, explained in a post-eviction interview that she was initially eager to connect with Isabella, a fellow mother.

The reality star stated that Isabella misinterpreted her friendly relationship with Kayinkunmi, whom she knew prior to the show, as a romantic threat.

The situation, according to her, escalated when she selected Kayinkunmi as her deputy during her reign as head of house.

Well it was quite unfortunate that we never really got to be friends. I was very much looking forward to being friends with Isabella especially because she said she did have a 14-year-old son and for me I wanted to see how life was from her own perspective, she said.

You noticed the people I related with, people I thought had similar life experiences that I could talk to and all of that. So I was really looking forward to be friends with Isabella but it is unfortunate that my friend Kayinkunmi also came into the house.

Now I think everything just had to do with Kayinkunmi, when I chose him as my deputy head of house.

From there I think her reaction that night… Like almost immediately after… But in her case, I just feel like she had gone too far. It was the wrong time for me to have a conversation.

Thelma clarified that she saw no need to publicly announce her pre-existing friendship with Kayinkunmi to the entire house.

Because she could easily make content out of me but I was not there to let anyone use me for highlights. Kayinkunmi is my friend, that is why I chose him. A lot of housemates did not know that we knew each other and I honestly did not feel the need to explain to them apart from like a few people that came to ask me, she added.

By the time she found out that there was actually nothing between me and Kayinkunmi, maybe when I and Tega started getting closer, it was already too late. The matter had gone far.

So far, 16 housemates have been voted out of the reality show. The remaining 13 contestants will slug it out to take home a staggering N150 million — the highest grand prize in the show’s history since its debut in 2006.

The season is expected to wrap up on October 5.
