Hollywood actor Idris Elba has announced that he plans to retire from acting. The actor, while speaking during a Q and A session at the Red Sea International Film Festival, revealed that he is considering a career diversion.
Although, Elba stressed the importance of acting to him, he noted that he feels drawn to a new career path. He further revealed that he plans to become a full-time director.
I’m hoping my fan base isn’t mad at me, but eventually I want to be a full-time director. I’ve been acting for a long time, and I still love it, but directing lets me flex different muscles and be part of the set in a completely new way, he stated.
Elba further revealed that he would like to make an impact on people’s lives, stating that he plans to before involved in philanthropy and activism.
I don’t want to be a politician. But I want to educate myself so I can make real impact, especially with the activism and philanthropy work I’ve been involved in. I may study human science because understanding people is at the heart of everything, he added.
