The father of late Afrobeats singer Destiny Boy has appealed to Nigerians for help following the disappearance of his son’s Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) days after the artiste’s death.
In a video that went viral on Tuesday, the visibly distraught man alleged that the vehicle was returned to the dealership, Lycon Autos, shortly after Destiny Boy passed away and has not been seen since.
The grieving father disclosed that he personally accompanied his son, whose real name was Afeez Adeshina, to purchase the SUV.
According to him, the dealership provided a driver to convey the vehicle to their residence on the day of purchase, and the same driver later became the singer’s personal driver.
Nigerians, please help me. My son has a car, and the car is with Lycon Autos. Although the car is not new, it is an SUV jeep. We went together to buy it,” he said.
He further alleged that the situation became complicated when the driver claimed that Destiny Boy was owing him money and subsequently returned the vehicle to the dealership without informing the family.
The driver said my son was owing him, so he took the car back to where we bought it from. I don’t even have the driver’s number. If the car were here, I would have gone to pick it up,” he added.
Destiny Boy died on Sunday at the age of 22. His mother, Saida, had earlier revealed that the singer battled a long-term mysterious illness, locally described as “Ogu oru,” which reportedly caused frequent seizures.
Speaking on Monday, she said the family explored medical, traditional, and spiritual solutions to manage his condition but kept it away from the public due to his rising status in the music industry.
Saida also dismissed rumours linking her son’s death to money rituals, describing such claims as false, insensitive, and deeply hurtful.
She stressed that the family did everything possible to ensure Destiny Boy recovered before his untimely death.
