In an interview with Yanga FM, the 34-year-old artiste, born Ifeanyi Bosah, explained that his recent absence from the public eye was a deliberate period of retreat.

He said he dedicated that time to intensive work on his mental health and personal growth.

The catalyst for the difficult chapter, he disclosed, was serving jail time — an experience he described as leading to a depressive state.

He emphasised that the painful period is now the core inspiration for his new musical direction.

Milli added that the songs he is preparing to release were fundamentally shaped by that ordeal, serving as a reflection of the pain he endured.

I have been working on myself that is why you are seeing me outside. If you saw me two years ago, you might not understand, he said.

Like I said, we did not get into the counseling part, I went through a depressive state, I went to jail. Really, that is what my music I am bringing out is about. It is about the pain.

While he chose not to divulge the specific reasons for his imprisonment, Milli shared that he was incarcerated twice, for a total period of approximately three months.

About three months, because I went twice, he replied.

Milli rose to prominence after being featured on the Starboy hit single Soco.
