Nigerian media personality and entrepreneur, Cubana Chief Priest, has asserted that online criticism directed at political aspirants actually boosts their chances of winning elections.
In a post on Instagram, Chief Priest referenced the controversy surrounding Desmond Elliot during his campaign for a legislative position. He argued that when internet users call out or heavily criticize an aspirant, it almost guarantees the candidate’s success at the polls.
He wrote, The people you all love on social media never win elections; it’s always those who get abused online that end up victorious. I realized this from Hon. Desmond Elliot’s experience. Once social media is cursing you out, you’ve practically won. Social media candidates never win. All you have is noise and pointless online sessions with your free WiFi. All talk, zero capacity.
