Ice Prince: Why Marriage Scares Me

Nigerian rapper Ice Prince, whose real name is Panshak Zamani, has revealed his apprehension about marriage.

In a recent interview with NevonHQ, the ‘Aboki’ hitmaker explained that witnessing numerous failed marriages has made him increasingly cautious about tying the knot.

At this point, I get more scared of marriage every day because I see people get married and, in less than a year, they want out. The amount of drama and stress people go throughborrowing money just for the wedding—makes me hesitate, he shared.

Ice Prince, who is 39, also spoke about the financial pressures that come with weddings, noting that many of his friends approach him to borrow money for their ceremonies. “My friends are constantly asking me for loans to get married, and I don’t want to be in that situation myself,” he said.

Despite his reservations, the rapper said he might reconsider marriage when he turns 40, drawing inspiration from fellow rapper M.I Abaga, who married at that age. Some of my mentors, like M.I Abaga, got married at 40. Maybe I’ll start thinking about it then. For now, I have other plans, Ice Prince said.

He disclosed that his goals for 40 include returning to school and running a farm. I really want to go back to school and start a farm. I don’t see myself dropping albums at 40, he added.
