The management of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, has announced the immediate suspension of two students over allegations of cyberbullying the suspended Students’ Union Government president, James Iyanuoluwa Adio.
In a statement issued Friday on the university’s official news portal and signed by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tajudeen Opoola, the two students Alao Iyanuoluwa Odunayo and Olawale Abiodun Samuel were accused of conspiring to cyberbully Adio by posting details of his private affairs online after he allegedly failed to meet their financial demands.
The university condemned their actions, describing them as behavior capable of damaging the institution’s reputation. While investigations are still ongoing, management directed both students to proceed on suspension immediately, reaffirming the university’s commitment to upholding its values and protecting its image.
Adio, the Students’ Union president, was suspended last week together with the Deputy Director of Students Affairs over extortion allegations. He is accused of playing a role in the illegal collection of ₦1,000 from first-year students for practical sessions, with ₦700,000 reportedly traced to his personal account. Following his suspension, a video allegedly involving Adio circulated widely on social media, prompting the intervention of the National Association of Nigerian Students.
