The Ogun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the deaths of former Ogun State Television broadcaster Kitan Oyesiku and her security guard at her residence in Iyana Agodo Village, Owode-Egba, Ogun State.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday.
Babaseyi explained that police were alerted after a resident reported suspicious activity around the premises. Officers dispatched to the scene found evidence of forced entry and signs of disturbance within the compound.
The security guard’s body was first discovered at his post, while Ms. Oyesiku’s remains were later found inside her apartment. Additionally, the deceased’s vehicle was found missing from the property, further suggesting foul play.
According to Babaseyi, Police Commissioner Bode Ojajuni has ordered a thorough investigation, with detectives intensifying efforts to apprehend the perpetrators. Intelligence-led operations and surveillance have been expanded to key locations to uncover the circumstances surrounding the deaths and recover the stolen vehicle.
The Command extended its condolences to the families of the victims, the management of OGTV, and the media community, describing the incident as a tragedy.
Authorities urged residents to remain calm and come forward with any information that could assist the ongoing investigation.
In a related incident reported in September 2025, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command confirmed that an ARISE News Channel presenter, Somtochukwu Maduagwu, and her security guard were killed by suspected armed robbers in Katampe, Abuja. The management of ARISE News Channel reported that armed robbers had attacked her home, resulting in her death.
In January, police announced that 11 suspects linked to the case had been arraigned before a Federal Capital Territory court on charges of criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, and murder.
