The Senate of the Federal University Wukari (FUW), Taraba State, has implemented a complete ban on all forms of student sign-out activities within the university campus and its immediate vicinity.
This decision was made during the institution’s 76th regular Senate meeting and was announced by the Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of Senate, Prof. Benjamin Ate Kefas.
The university management stated that the ban was enacted after a committee, tasked with reviewing sign-out celebrations, submitted its report. Prof. Kefas emphasized that the measure was necessary to maintain security, ensure safety, and uphold the orderly conduct of academic activities on and around campus.
As a result, all sign-out ceremonies are now strictly prohibited. Specifically, the ban covers the signing of T-shirts and other memorabilia, processions, dancing, celebrations within and outside classroom settings, and group movements or convoys both on and off the university premises.
Furthermore, gatherings and parties around the university gates and along the Katsina-Ala–Jalingo Highway are forbidden, as are any activities that could lead to traffic congestion, public disorder, or jeopardize lives and property. The university has also banned the spraying of money and any other form of passing-out celebrations.
To enforce the new directive, university security personnel have been instructed to monitor compliance closely and report any violations for disciplinary action in accordance with the institution’s regulations.
The Senate urges students, parents, guardians, alumni, and the wider public to cooperate fully with the policy to ensure its successful implementation. The university reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a secure, disciplined, and supportive learning environment where academic excellence can flourish.
