Nigerian actress Bimbo Adebayo, renowned for her roles in Yoruba cinema, has publicly reached out to her colleague Ibrahim ‘Itele’ Yekini, seeking reconciliation after nearly a year of estrangement.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Adebayo shared a video montage featuring throwback photos of the two together, revealing that they had not spoken for almost a year a period marked by “hurt, pride, and things left unsaid.
Adebayo expressed her decision to set aside her pride and apologize for any words or actions that may have caused Itele pain.
She reaffirmed her respect for him as “my senior colleague, brother, and friend, and acknowledged the personal hurt she had experienced, but emphasized her desire for peace over determining who was right or wrong.
“For everyone who knows me, knows I’m stubborn, but some battles are not worth winning. Sometimes all your heart truly wants is peace,” she wrote. “Even though I was deeply hurt by what happened, today, I have come to realise that holding on to pain only keeps the wound open. I’m using this medium to say if I have said or done anything that hurt you, I’m sincerely sorry. Please forgive me.”
Adebayo clarified that her post was made from the heart, not at anyone’s prompting, and urged her followers to pray for reconciliation. “Sometimes, being the bigger person is choosing peace over chaos. I sincerely hope this reaches your heart,” she added.
In response, Itele commented beneath the post, expressing his willingness to move forward. “It’s all gone, my sister. It’s not that deep, it was just a misunderstanding. No hard feelings at all. Let’s leave it all in the past and move forward in peace. May God forgive us all,” he wrote.
The specific cause of their disagreement was not disclosed.
