Nollywood actor Shawn Faqua’s wife, Dr. Sharon Ifunanya Maduekwe also known as Akwa Ugoo—has opened up about the challenges they faced during their courtship.
In a recent interview, Dr. Maduekwe recounted how Shawn’s unwavering honesty and strong Christian values initially made her skeptical.
She revealed that Shawn was clear about maintaining sexual purity before marriage, refusing to allow her to visit his home alone and insisting on seeking the Holy Spirit’s guidance before making certain decisions.
When I first started dating him, he told me we couldn’t have sex until marriage. He also said I couldn’t visit his house because we’d be alone together.
There was even a time when my hotel was fully booked, and I asked if I could stay at his place. He said he needed to pray about it first and seek the Holy Spirit’s direction.
I told my friends, ‘This guy is not honest; he must be hiding something,’ she recalled, explaining that her doubts stemmed from previous relationship experiences.
