A 40-foot container truck experienced brake failure and crashed into demarcation blocks and several vehicles at the exit of Kara Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) announced the incident in a post on its X account on Tuesday, urging motorists to remain patient while the obstruction is being cleared.
According to the agency, the crash has caused significant traffic congestion, with the backlog stretching as far as New Garage. Recovery and evacuation operations are already underway.
The statement read: “A 40ft container-laden truck reportedly had a brake failure and rammed into the demarcation blocks and other vehicles at the exit of Kara Bridge.” LASTMA further revealed that a separate accident occurred on Kara Bridge inbound Mowe, where a loaded trailer reportedly collided with a sport utility vehicle (SUV).
The agency confirmed that its officers, alongside police personnel, have been deployed to the scene to manage traffic and clear the affected vehicles. “Officers and police personnel are on ground doing the needful,” the post stated.
LASTMA appealed to drivers to exercise patience, assuring that all efforts are being made to restore normal traffic flow. “We implore motorists to be patient as all hands are on deck to ensure all impediments are cleared from the road,” the agency concluded.
