Ramsey Nouah, renowned Nigerian actor and producer, recently shared insights into his family background, revealing that his father is Lebanese.
In a candid interview on Curiosity Made Me Ask, the 55-year-old star explained his fluency in Yoruba, saying he learned it growing up in Lagos and that his mother’s from Ondo State.
“I speak Yoruba so well because I’m a Yoruba boy. I was born and bred in Lagos. My mum is from Ondo, but I’m mixed-race because my father is Lebanese,” Nouah shared.
Nouah began his acting career in the early 1990s and has since become a prominent figure in the Nigerian entertainment industry, earning numerous award nominations and wins. In 2010, he received the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in ‘The Figurine’. He made his directorial debut with ‘Living in Bondage: Breaking Free’ in 2019, and has directed several other Nollywood films since then.
Recently, Nouah commented on the financial challenges of releasing films in cinemas, noting that producers rarely recoup their investments despite significant spending on promotion and advertising. “Only about two percent of people are likely to recover their capital investment, even with all the promotion. Some still do not get back what they put in,” he remarked.
