Nigeria’s senate has suspended the amendment of the Code of Conduct Bureau act after it came under fierce criticism for trying to amend the bill to favour corrupt persons.
The senate attempted to amend the bill after the trial of Nigeria’s senate president, Bukola Saraki at the Code of Conduct Tribunal went into full swing.
But in direct confrontation to the amendment, human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) amongst others condemned the action.
After having a rethink, the senate has suspended the amendment of the bill.
