Actress Lolo Speaks on the Harsh Realities Nigerians Face at Home and Abroad

Popular Nigerian media personality and actress Lolo has weighed in on the struggles many Nigerians face, both locally and internationally. In a recent interview on News Central, she lamented the difficult choices people make due to Nigeria’s economic crisis, highlighting how many would rather endure hardship abroad than remain in the country.

“I Feel Bad for Nigerians” – Lolo

Expressing deep concern, Lolo said:

“I feel bad for Nigerians. Are the facts not glaring? The data is literally in your face. It shows that we are making the lives of foreign countries easier.”

She particularly pointed out the skyrocketing tuition fees Nigerians pay for education abroad, emphasizing how people still choose to struggle overseas because of the basic amenities available in foreign countries—stable electricity, good roads, and functional transportation systems.

The Harsh Trade-Off

Despite the tough living conditions some Nigerians face abroad, she noted that many prefer staying there rather than dealing with Nigeria’s failing infrastructure and rising cost of living.

“There are some people abroad whose living conditions are terrible and degrading, but they would rather stay there managing because at least there is constant electricity. They are managing, but the roads are good. They are managing, but at least they can still find transportation.”

Back home, Lolo pointed out that even basic things like public transport carry social stigma, as people associate it with poverty.

“If you enter a bus, people see you and attribute your life to poverty, and that’s not true. I don’t want to drive every day, but look at what is happening in this country. Even feeding is expensive here.”

The Bigger Picture

Lolo’s words reflect the growing frustration among Nigerians over the state of the economy, governance, and daily living conditions. With rising costs and inadequate infrastructure, many are forced to seek opportunities abroad—despite the hardships they may encounter.
