The 38-year-old artiste shared the milestone moment with his family, posting a video to his Instagram page that captured the unveiling.

In the clip, Adekunle Gold, his wife Simi, and their young daughter Deja jointly pull back the ceremonial veil to reveal a bold, red sign bearing his full birth name: “Adekunle Kosoko Street.

The ‘Sade’ hitmaker also reflected on the profound significance of the honour

The naming holds deep historical resonance for the singer, who was born in 1987 into the Kosoko royal family of Lagos Island.

The name traces back to Kosoko, the monarch who ruled as the king of Lagos from 1845 to 1851.

Gold first rose to prominence in 2015 with his breakout single Sade, a highlife reinterpretation of One Direction’s Story of My Life.

After an initial stint with YBNL Nation, he forged an impressive independent path through his own imprint, Afro Urban Records, later entering a strategic partnership with Def Jam Recordings.

His career is documented through a series of acclaimed albums: Gold (2016), About 30 (2018), Afro Pop, Vol. 1 (2020), Catch Me If You Can (2022), and Tequila Ever After (2023).

The street naming comes just a week after he released his much-anticipated sixth studio album, Fuji, a project for which he has been paying tribute to legends of the genre like Adewale Ayuba and Saheed Osupa.
