Maxwell Adeleye, spokesperson for the group (Ilana Omo Oodua) said “We are in Akure to demand the Yoruba Nation.

This current structure is not working. There will be no election in 2023. We want a Yoruba nation and we are ready to gain that peacefully.”

The rally held against the warning of the state governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. The governor warned that all agitators should stay away from the state.

Governor Akeredolu said the people of the state have elected to stay in the Federal Republic of Nigeria as constituted at present.

The Ondo Governor said no part of the entire state, known and delineated as Ondo State, would permit any gathering or agitation which may suggest, that the people are in support of a Yoruba Nation.
