Dr Oby Ezekwesili, co-convener of the #BringBackOurGirls (BBOG) has been detained at the Unity Fountain in Abuja.
PMNEWS gathered that more than a dozen policemen encircled Ezekwesili and other members of BBOG during their gathering at the Unity Fountain in Abuja and prevented them from moving out.
Members of the BBOG have been meeting at the fountain for more than for years to draw attention of the world to the plight of more than 200 Chibok schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram from their hostel in 2014.
In a tweet on her arrest and detention on Wednesday, Ezekwesili accused the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari of ordering the Inspector-General of Police to detain her and other members of the BBOG.
Ezekwesili, a former education minister, said she asked the police more than 30 times to allow her out of the fountain but they refused.
Ezekwesili tweeted: ”The FG of President .@MBuhari instructed the IG of @PoliceNG to DETAIN ME AND OTHER MEMBERS of @BBOG_Nigeria here at the Unity Fountain. Police men and women have BUILT AN IMPREGNABLE WALL and LOCKED ME IN. I have asked them more than 30 times to LET ME OUT and they REFUSED.”Ezekwesili and the other BBOG activists were later released by the police.
