A Nigerian woman has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), alleging that she was scammed of a staggering N33 million by one Mr. Bolanle Azeez, who posed online as Nollywood star Bolanle Ninalowo.
Read more: Bolanle Ninalowo dragged into N33m TikTok fraudAccording to the petition filed by her lawyers, Olamide Oyetayo & Co., the victim, Mrs. Victoria Yemisi Ayano, met the suspect on TikTok in July 2024. He allegedly disguised as actor Ninalowo, sweet-talked her with business opportunities and personal requests, and convinced her to send him money in tranches.
By the time she realised she had been duped, the total damage had hit N33,000,000. Efforts to recover the money failed as the suspect allegedly cut off all contact.
The petition claims the fraud was backed up with fake promises, WhatsApp chats and bank transfers, all of which the lawyers say they have as evidence.
Meanwhile, the real Bolanle Ninalowo has distanced himself from the scandal, posting the petition online with a bemused reaction:
