United appeared in control for long spells, twice building leads and threatening to turn the contest into a statement performance under Ruben Amorim.

However, Bournemouth’s resilience, pace and refusal to surrender ensured the points were shared after a breathless night of goals, controversy and late drama.

The hosts struck first in the 13th minute when Amad Diallo headed home from close range after a flowing move, igniting early celebrations among the Old Trafford crowd.

Bournemouth responded with composure, equalising through Antoine Semenyo, whose powerful individual run and low finish exposed United’s defensive fragility.

United regained the advantage late in the first half when Casemiro rose highest to nod in Bruno Fernandes’ corner, sending the home side into the break with a 2–1 lead.

But Bournemouth emerged for the second half with renewed intent and stunned United within a minute, Evanilson racing through to calmly finish and level the score at 2–2.

The visitors went further ahead in the 52nd minute as Marcus Tavernier rifled in a superb free-kick, putting Bournemouth 3–2 up and silencing Old Trafford.

United responded in style. Fernandes curled in a sensational free-kick to restore parity before Matheus Cunha finished a slick team move to put the hosts back in front at 4–3.

Just when it seemed United had done enough, Bournemouth struck again. In the 84th minute, Eli Junior Kroupi latched onto a precise pass inside the box and calmly slotted home to make it 4–4, completing a remarkable comeback.

Both sides pushed for a winner in frantic stoppage time, with Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic making key saves to preserve the draw as United pressed relentlessly.

The result left United frustrated after surrendering multiple leads, while Bournemouth departed Old Trafford buoyed by a fearless display that underlined their growing confidence and attacking quality.
