Burt Reynolds, star of ‘Boogie Nights’, dies after heart attack

Reynolds earned an Oscar nomination for his role as porn director Jack Horner in the critically-acclaimed ‘Boogie Nights’ which he didn’t fancy much.

The Golden Globe-winning actor is said to have turned down the chance to play James Bond and Hans Solo in George Lucas’ 1977 ‘Star Wars’.

In 1972, Reynolds became a global sex symbol after posing naked for Cosmopolitan magazine on a bearskin rug.

The ‘Smokey and the Bandit’ star will later describe the audacious photoshoot as “really stupid”.

“It was really stupid. I don’t know what I was thinking. I really wish I hadn’t done that,” he said.

Reynolds was a major box office star in the 70s, appearing opposite top female leading actors such as Dolly Parton, Goldie Hawn and Julie Andrews.

He was married to Loni Anderson in 1988 but they split under acrimonious circumstances in 1993.
