Barcelona fans will have to wait even longer for a return to Camp Nou, as more redevelopment delays mean the club will remain at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys for another full season.
According to The Athletic, the club has officially informed its members via email that all remaining home fixtures will be played at Montjuïc, marking the fourth time in recent months that the return to Camp Nou has been postponed.
Although the full renovation project is set for completion in 2026, Barcelona had initially hoped to return this season—albeit with a reduced capacity—to celebrate their 125th anniversary in November. However, leaked footage suggests construction is significantly behind schedule, crushing any hopes of a comeback this season.
Financial Blow for Barcelona
The prolonged stay at Montjuïc is hitting Barcelona financially. The stadium is much smaller than Camp Nou, leading to an estimated €90 million (£75.6m/$97.9m) loss in matchday revenue last season. With many season ticket holders staying away, the financial impact continues to grow.
This latest setback only adds to the club’s embarrassment, as Real Madrid successfully completed the Santiago Bernabéu renovation without major disruptions—even managing to play a full season at the Alfredo Di Stéfano Stadium during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Barcelona will now face mounting pressure to ensure Camp Nou is finally ready for the 2025/26 season, or risk further damage to both their finances and reputation.
