The National Secretary of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Baba Othman Ngelzarma have come out to say that the perpetrators of the Enugu Killings should not go unpunished.
He said this while speaking on Channels Television‘s Sunrise Daily on Thursday that such persons are not Fulani Herdsmen, but criminals disguising as the Herdsmen. “Some people somewhere are out to profile fulani herdsmen as terrorists,” he said
Othman said that no day passes by without the kidnap of between 5 and 10 Fulani Herdsmen, especially in Kaduna but these incidents are not being reported. He also criticized media houses for not reporting such, stating that the Herdsmen have been labeled as criminals when in actual fact they are victims.
He said that the Herdsmen also put themselves and their family in danger as they journey from the North to other parts of the country for food and water for their cattle.
He urged the National Assembly to focus on the grazing bill before it, as it will bring an end to the communal clashes.
