14 nabbed in Lagos crackdown on miscreants, street traders

Lagos State authorities have intensified their crackdown on illegal activities as operatives of the Environmental Sanitation Corps apprehended 14 individuals during a surveillance operation carried out early Tuesday morning on Charity Bridge inward Mile 2.

The suspects include 12 identified as miscreants and 2 street traders, all caught loitering or trading unlawfully on the busy pedestrian bridge.

The operation, revealed by the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, is part of the state’s ongoing #ZeroToleranceLagos campaign aimed at reclaiming public infrastructure from unlawful occupation and misuse.

Those arrested are Kayode Solomon, 30, Destiny Chima, 48. Abdullahi Saidu. 25. Egbe Robinson, 20, Ekundayo John, 18, Francis David, 25, Aminu Mohammed, 21, Isa Iliyasu, 25; Ibikunle Seyi, 23, Wasiu Salami, 33, Sulaiman Lawal, 19, Temitope Olawale, 23, Qassim Yusuf, 23, and Olamide Favour, 18.

All suspects, Wahab confirmed, would face prosecution in accordance with the laws of Lagos State.

He stressed the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order, declaring that the state would not relent in its mission to sanitise public spaces and safeguard residents from the dangers posed by illegal street activities.
