Nigerian music producer Cobhams Asuquo has opened up on how his blindness has served as a motivation in his journey.
In an interview with Hip Tv on Thursday, Cobhams stated how his disability made him work harder than the average person.
My awareness of myself as a blind person, made me work five times as hard. One of the things I realized is the stereotype around blind people that they are incapable. Because of that, I worked hard to show that I am capable of so many things, he said.
Cobhams also spoke on the importance of being self aware, regardless of one’s situation and condition.
It is ok to identify where you are and what you are dealing with so that you are not living in denial. Call it what it is, deal with it as it is , and show your strength through your disability, Cobhams advised.
The 44 year old also stated that he is comfortable with his condition and is proud of his achievements.
I am comfortable with the term blind. I embrace it and I think it makes it special that I’ve been able to live the life I’ve lived and do the things that I’ve done, he said.
