Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs, the US rapper, has been given a scheduled release date of May 8, 2028, following his recent sentencing on federal charges.
Read more: Diddy’s release date from prison revealedThe 55-year-old music mogul was sentenced to four years and nine months in prison on October 3 after being convicted on two counts of transportation for prostitution.
The verdict was delivered by Arun Subramanian, the presiding judge, at a New York courthouse.
According to public records from the Federal Bureau of Prisons cited by TMZ and CNN, the 2028 release date accounts for the time he has already served.
Diddy has been in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since his arrest in September 2024, meaning he has spent over 14 months behind bars to date.
The conviction stems from a sweeping case that saw more than 120 accusers, including a minor, come forward with allegations of kidnapping, abuse, blackmail, and prostitution-related crimes.
In July, a jury found him guilty on the two prostitution-related counts but acquitted him on more severe charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.
Ahead of the sentencing, prosecutors had sought an 11-year term, describing Combs as unrepentant.
His defense team, however, prayed for a sentence of 14 months, equivalent to his time already served.
In a letter to the court, Diddy admitted responsibility for his actions, apologised to those he hurt — specifically naming ex-partner Cassie Ventura and another victim identified as Jane — and pleaded for leniency.
I literally lost my mind. I was dead wrong for putting my hands on the woman that I loved, he wrote of Ventura.
I’m sorry for that and always will be. My domestic violence will always be a heavy burden that I will have to forever carry.
Combs is currently appealing both his conviction and the sentence.
