The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a public alert for the arrest of a man who falsely presented himself as its officer on a popular online matchmaking show.

The individual, identified as Olakunle Alex Folarin, appeared on content creator Lege Miami’s social media platform in a video that has since gone viral.

During the session, Folarin, claiming to be a 37-year-old unmarried man from Ibadan, presented himself as an EFCC officer seeking a partner. To bolster his credibility, he displayed an EFCC identity card on screen.

Miami, however, questioned Folarin’s authenticity and issued a stern warning.

If you are faking your ID card, EFCC will arrest you. I want to beg you in the name of God, if you know that you are married, leave this platform, he said.

I am hearing that you are married. You have shown me your EFCC ID card. If I later discover that you are married or have kids, I will take it up legally with you.

Despite the reservations, the matchmaking proceeded, and Folarin was introduced to a potential partner.

However, in a post via X, EFCC revealed that Folarin is not an officer but a former driver from its Ibadan zonal office who was dismissed for certificate forgery.

The commission condemned his actions and clarified that his conduct has no association with the EFCC.

The post added that Ola Olukoyede, the EFCC chairman, has ordered Folarin’s immediate arrest.

EFCC, condemned in the strongest terms, the involvement of one of its former staff, Olakunle Alex Folarin in a matchmaking programme running on Lege Miami social media platforms, it reads.

Folarin was recently dismissed from the Commission for certificate forgery. He was a driver at the Ibadan Zonal Directorate of the EFCC.

The Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede has ordered his arrest for being in possession of some commission’s properties, including an Identity Card, which he should have handed over upon being dismissed from the EFCC.

The public is advised against associating Folarin’s post-dismissal conduct with the EFCC.
