Ex-Wrexham Boss to Hollywood Owners: Build a Training Ground or Lose Top Talent!

Wrexham’s Hollywood owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, have been urged to invest in a permanent training ground if they want to attract top-tier talent to the club.

The Red Dragons have been without a fixed training facility for nine years since losing access to Colliers Park. Despite Reynolds and McElhenney’s heavy investment—leading to back-to-back promotions from the National League to League One—the lack of a dedicated training ground remains a major concern.

Speaking on the Fearless in Devotion podcast, former Wrexham manager Brian Flynn emphasized the urgent need for a proper facility:

“Everything a footballer wants is a proper training ground to turn up to every day. How can you expect players to improve when they don’t even know where they’re training or what surface they’ll be on? The training ground is key.”

While the Hollywood duo has already poured millions into an academy facility and a new 5,500-capacity stand at the Racecourse Ground, Flynn insists that a top-class training ground is the missing piece in Wrexham’s long-term ambitions.

Meanwhile, Phil Parkinson’s squad—currently third in League One—is gearing up for their next challenge against Stockport on Saturday.
