Ahmed Musa, the former captain of the Nigerian national football team, has said that Nigeria’s only chance to qualify for the upcoming World Cup, which will be held in Canada, Mexico, and the United States, now depends on the outcome of a FIFA decision regarding a match between South Africa and Lesotho.

He said that if FIFA decides to cancel the results of the match between Lesotho and South Africa, there is a possibility that the points from that game could be awarded to Nigeria, which would improve Nigeria’s standing in the qualification group.
The reason for the potential cancellation is that Lesotho reportedly fielded two players who had already received yellow cards and should have been suspended from playing. This is against FIFA’s rules, and it means Lesotho may have broken the regulations during that match.
If FIFA confirms this violation, the match result could be voided, and the points could be reallocated, potentially benefiting Nigeria.
Ahmed Musa admitted that the current situation is very challenging for Nigeria. “Right now, we are in a very difficult position, and honestly, only a miracle can take Nigeria to the World Cup. But we remain hopeful, he said.
Musa’s comments come at a time when Nigerian football fans are eagerly awaiting news on the FIFA decision, as it could change the fate of the Super Eagles in the ongoing World Cup qualifying campaign. He also stressed the importance of staying positive and working hard despite the setbacks.
As the General Manager of Kano Pillars, Musa has promised to bring new energy and focus to the club, aiming to restore its former glory and improve its performance both locally and internationally.
