A yet-to-be-identified male adult has been killed while in a commercial bus along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
We learnt that the incident happened on Wednesday, July 30.
It was gathered that the deceased had boarded the bus from the Agbara area and was heading to Okoafo.
A resident close to where the incident happened, who identified himself simply as Fatai, told our correspondent on Wednesday that the bus had stopped to drop a passenger off the area when some unidentified men on a motorcycle moved close to the vehicle and shot the passenger.
Fatai said the deceased died on the spot, thereby throwing the area into confusion.
The incident happened in the afternoon. We just saw some people gathered around a bus along the ECOWAS Road, and when I moved closer, I saw someone sitting lifeless in the bus. Other passengers on the bus told us that the man had boarded at Agbara and was heading to Okoafo.
So, the moment the bus stopped at the Winnys bus-stop to drop off one of the passengers, two men on a motorcycle parked by the bus and shot the deceased passenger at close range. They fled the spot on their motorcycle after shooting the man. There is every possibility that they might have trailed him to that spot. The whole area was thrown into confusion when we got to the spot.
Another resident, who gave her name as Motilola and shared a video clip of the incident with our correspondent on Wednesday, said no means of identification could be found on the man before his body was taken away by the police.
No one could recognise the man, and there was also no means of identification on him. Some people took a video of him to share online, in case any of his relatives could identify him. Although his body was taken away by the police later in the evening.
The deceased victim was seen in the video sitting motionless by the driver’s side while carrying a brown leather bag.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, could not be reached as calls made to his telephone were not answered. A text message sent to him had yet to be replied to as of the time this report was filed.
We reported that a male adult was killed by gunmen at Ojo-Igbede in the Ojo area of Lagos State on Saturday, July 19.
The victim had stepped out to buy a plate of food from a vendor in the community when two men on a motorcycle approached him.
