Nigerian singer Ahmed Ololade, better known as Asake, has opened up about the obstacles he encountered at the beginning of his music career.
During a conversation with Famous TV, the Sungba hitmaker shared how he was once turned away by show promoters because he primarily performed in Yoruba.
Reflecting on his journey, Asake expressed gratitude for staying true to his roots and not abandoning his musical style, even when faced with rejection.
He attributed his success to resilience and unwavering self-belief.
As God would have it, I am where I am today because of grace, self-confidence, consistency, and perseverance. There was a time when many people refused to give me opportunities; they wouldn’t let me perform at shows because I sang in Yoruba. But I’m grateful I never gave up and kept believing in myself.
Now, seeing how far I’ve come, I’m truly happy, the singer said.
